Chemist II
Independently conduct research, analysis and experimentation to develop ink, paint, and other chemical product formulations. This is a hands-on position with significant time spent at the lab bench along with associated administrative duties related to product development.

What You’ll Do
​Job Summary:​

The chemist independently conducts research, analysis and experimentation to develop ink, paint, and other chemical product formulations.

This is a hands-on position with significant time spent at the lab bench along with associated administrative duties related to product development.

This position also interacts with personnel in quality control, manufacturing, product management and sales to support the existing product lines.
Essential Duties:
-
Develop /invent new products in line with company goals and objectives.
-
Work closely with sales and product management to develop products meeting end user cost, performance, and color requirements.

Manage development projects: establishing and adhering to timelines, communicating progress and maintaining detailed records.

Acquire thorough background and knowledge of any new product uses and applications.

Trouble shoots chemical related production problems in conjunction with the plant supervisory personnel.

Scale up new products to production size in conjunction with the manufacturing team.

Research and answer customer technical questions as needed.

Develops formulas, processes, and methods for solution of technical problems.

Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties.

Conducts research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.

Prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.

Maintain up to date lab notebooks detailing specific project work.

Prepares reports, writes technical papers and gives technical presentations as appropriate.

Conduct technical training for internal and external customers.

Other duties, as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.

2 – 4 years of experience in ink, paint or coatings development.

Equipment: Lab mixers and hot plates, Microscope, Ovens and environmental cabinets, Viscometers, pH meters, Color spectrophotometer, Solids/Moisture balance

Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite Software. Experience with MS Project Management Software desirable.
Working Environment:
This position performs work duties both in a typical office and manufacturing floor environment. Routine presence of hazardous materials that may require proper safeguards, procedures, and personal protective equipment
