Maintenance Specialist

Play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of all machinery, equipment, and facilities. this position is responsible for building and maintaining electronic equipment files in CMMS. The Maintenance Specialist is an essential part of the plant's operations, contributing to overall production efficiency, safety, and quality.

What You’ll Do

This position is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities in the facility with production leadership.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Establish and document procedures on new and existing equipment and systems in CMMS.
    Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and systems to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration, to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.
    Replace or repair faulty components, such as motors, bearings, belts, gears, and sensors.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, and emergencies to minimize production disruptions.
    Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems and implement effective repair solutions.
     

Automation Systems:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
    Respond promptly to alarms and notifications to address issues and prevent potential failures.
     

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Establish and document procedures on new and existing equipment and systems.​Schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks according to established procedures and timelines.

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, replacements, and parts inventory to aid in tracking equipment history and maintenance trends in CMMS. 
     

Facilities:

  • Maintain the physical infrastructure of the plant, including lighting, HVAC systems, plumbing, and other facilities-related components.

  • Address facility maintenance issues to create a safe and productive working environment.
     

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations while working on equipment and machinery.

  • Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety awareness within the plant.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to understand equipment requirements and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and fellow team members to provide updates on maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment status.

  • Utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. 
     

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements and reliability improvements.

  • Contribute to root cause analysis for major breakdowns and support efforts to prevent recurrence.
     

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Technical certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance is a plus.

  • Previous experience documenting maintenance processes and CMMS.

  • Proficiency in preparing communication, reports, presentations and other products by operating Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

  • Previous experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, PLC, and pneumatic systems.

  • Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, when necessary.

  • Physical ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
     

Working Environment:

  • The Maintenance Specialist will primarily work within a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve exposure to loud noises, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and precautions are mandatory in accordance with company policies.
