Warehouse Manager

Oversees the warehouse shipping and receiving functions and prticipates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
     

  • Manage warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
     

  • Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment. 
     

  • Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment. 
     

  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.
     

  • Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
     

  • Directs salvage of damaged or used material.
     

  • Work with Logistic Specialist for performance of freight vendors and carriers.
     

  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping.
     

  • Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees.
     

  • Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations.
     

  • Audit and report inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock.
     

  • Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse.
     

  • Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leaders.

Other Responsibilities

  • Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to warehouses. 
     

  • Measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to senior management. 
     

  • Apply expertise to specify system functionality. 
     

  • Utilizes the MRP in the most efficient, cost-effective manner.
     

  • Analyzes and collaborates with executive and departmental managers to determine and monitor the budget of the warehouse department.
     

  • Collaborates with executive and senior management teams to identify potential areas of improvement to achieve internal process efficiencies and/or internal/external cost reductions.
     

  • Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
     

  • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
     

  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
     

  • Documents cost savings, vendor quality and delivery ratings.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Advanced education from college or technical school desirable. 
     

  • 5+ years experience.
     

  • Knowledge and experience in MS Office Suit
     

  • Proficiency with Excel and other analytical required 
     

  • Experience working with ERP.
